Five ways we help, whether you want us alongside you for the whole journey or just at the moments that matter.
High school academic & resume advising
To maximize options for college admissions success, it is important to plan early.
Academic planning. Smart and strategic academic planning in high school helps students achieve greater success in college admissions. Colleges want to know you are challenging yourself, but also that you can do well on your appropriate academic path.
Resume advising. Keeping active during high school is the best way to broaden your understanding of life outside the classroom. Experiences where you explore your interests and learn to lead will help you choose a career path, and colleges look at activity resumes to get to know the whole student beyond grades and test scores.
We meet with students to create a smart academic and extracurricular plan for maximizing acceptances at the colleges they choose.
College selection guidance
Finding schools that are a “good fit” is the most important part of the college search.
Students need to expand beyond the few schools they know because friends and family are alumni. Every student has particular characteristics and requirements; every college is different in its own way.
Our job is to identify the schools that best match each student. We start by getting to know them, building an understanding of their academic, social, financial and career-path needs, then use our knowledge of schools to create a list we believe are a good fit. Once students have researched that initial list, we narrow it together for college tours and applications.
Application advising
Organization is what makes the admissions process a positive experience.
College Unlimited students keep applications and deadlines organized. We create a master application timeline covering every school, deadline and submission requirement.
Our online portal manages information, tracks correspondence and gives students a place to store the important elements of each application. Because the portal is two-way with College Unlimited, everyone stays on top of deadlines.
Essay brainstorm & advising
Essays are an opportunity. They can feel daunting, but they can also make or break an acceptance.
Developing a topic that expresses “who you really are” is a key part of the admissions process. We work with students to brainstorm topics, then guide them through a set of essays that present them as a strong candidate to the colleges they choose.
College decision counseling
The stress of applying can continue after the results come in.
Once acceptances arrive, it’s time to decide where the student will begin their undergraduate education. We help families weigh the choices, compare financial aid offers, communicate with admissions officers, and handle deferrals and waitlists.
